Q. When did you first learn you had dyslexia? If you remember, how did you react?
A. When I was 14. I was discouraged but my school offered me a lot of LD options and helped me with schoolwork. 



Q. How do you personally define dyslexia?
A. Dyslexia is a learning disability that causes someone to see 1 dementional objects such as letters and numbers, in a warped way.




Q. What are some misconceptions people have about dyslexia?
A. That every letter/word is backwards or upside down. 



Q. What are some of the positive characteristics dyslexia gives you?
A. It helps me see life from a different more deep and discriptive perspective. I notice small detailes in artwork for example.




Q. What are some things your dyslexia makes hard for you?
A. Reading. Especially black words on a white page.



Q. How does dyslexia negatively effect you in a classroom setting? What about any other setting?

A. I get behind often. And I don't like to read out loud because im afraid I'll read too slow.




Q. What kind of accommodations do you use in class and how do they help you maximize your learning?
A. I use extra time for testing. And I take concerta pills. I also sometimes use different colored clear films to put over what I am reading. They help a lot.



Q. Have the majority of your teachers been good at making sure you get your accommodations?
A.
 Yes they have. But they can't slow down the entire class.




Q. Has there been a time where someone such as a teacher or another student has disputed your accommodations?
A. Students sometimes find having extra time as unfair.



Q. What strategies or assistance have you taken advantage of in combating the negative aspects of your learning differences?
A. I listen to my books online and I use extra time at school for testing. I also have ADHD so I am on a medication for that, and that often helps my dyslexia as well.




Q. Are you proud to have dyslexia? Why or why not?
A. Sometimes I feel happy and proud because it gives me a different perspective and a challenge.


Q. What kind of technology helps you combat your dyslexia?
A. Audio books. 



Q. If you had the ability to get rid of your dyslexia would you? Why or why not?

A. Yes, because it usually holds me back.
